Since its inception in 2004, the Australian Museum of Motion Picture and Television) now known as PIM) has been responsible for the promotion and preservation of the history of film as well the social significance of cinema and television in our society .

TVW -7 OPENING oCTOBER 1959

The first TV Station to open in Perth  was TVW Channel 7

When it was announced that television would start in Western Australia there was much interest in the community as many people had seen television or had been told of it by friends living in Victoria and New South Wales. Because of the interest in the 1956 Olympics which was televised, and largely reported in those states television media, it had sparked interest.
