SOME LIKE IT HOT
Marilyn Monroe
One of the all time great screen comedies, Some Like It Hot stars Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon at their best. Billy Wilder, one of the all time great directors, co-wrote and directed this fantastic movie.
Two Struggling musicians witness the 1929 St. Valentine’s Day Massacre in Chicago, and try to find a way out of the city before they are found and killed by the mob. The only job that will pay their way is an all girl band, so the two dress up as women. Joe (Tony Curtis), the saxophone player, is Josephine in the all girls band that he joins with Jerry (Jack Lemmon), the bass violin player, to be one step ahead of the mob.
In addition to hiding, each has his own problems; One falls for another band member, the sexy ukulele player Sugar Kane (Marilyn Monroe), but can’t tell her his gender, and the other has a rich suitor Osgood Fielding (Joe E. Brown), who will not take “No,” for an answer. Then the Chicago mob arrives in Miami for a convention.
